Sadly my copy wasn't up to scratch. I think this is badly mastered. Very low volume, which would be understandable if this was a single disc, but it's a double L.P. so it's unforgivable. Disc 1 was quiet, dull and uninspiring sounding no life to it at all. DIsc 2 - side 3 track 3 was distorted and jumpy. Unlistenable. I didnt get as far as side 4 before initiating a return. Spotify sounds great in comparison for the same album.
It's not about the songs, it's about an awful pressing. Whoever QA'd this out of the pressing plant failed in their duty.- Some noise here and there but overall this is a great pressing I think. My copy is a bit weird as it has a lighter brown marble variant that is pretty clearly marble and the other record is darker and looks more like a regular black pressing.
- Very good sound quality and excelent artwork, a little flat and not as loud as i was specting. Mine came in a dark marbled variant.
Love BRMC. - Not the flattest, not the quietest. Mine is the dark marbled variant. Sound quality aint bad at all though. Love me some BRMC.

Huge disappointment. Somewhat muddy sound but maybe how its mastered. Crappy pressings, tried two both non filled on both discs and sadly noisy for it. One was also warped and nearly made the needle jump.
Going to pray i get a good Vagrant one instead
Edit: I chanced on a 3rd copy somehow being better as the Vagrant is quite overpriced in UK and the other Vagrant BRMC albums are crackly recylced vinyl..... so, 1st disc surprisingly pressed perfect.... 2nd disc....... hilariously, laughably, embarrassingly non-filled like you wouldnt believe. If only i could upload the photos!
Conclusion:
JUST BUY THE CD!- I thought the initial listing from Vagrant’s site was showing clear with gold swirl, but ended up being these recycled marbled colors… not mad, just a lil’ shocked and feeling mislead.
But whatever, colors are cool and the music is what matters! referencing Wrong Creatures (2×LP, Album) CDSLP 1194
The mastering on this album is amazing. It puts you right in there and the low end is powerful. The only problem is the pressing on LP 1. When you unpack it you find strange lines across both sides (maybe paper or glue) that even when you wash them a sort of scuff line is still very present. There's also a pretty sketchy edge warp and much like one Amazon reviewer notes there's a sort of weird sand papery sound on side A that's kind of a mood killer. Otherwise LP 2 sounds killer. I will be searching out a clean copy of LP 1 even if it takes several copies.- Edited 4 years agoBlack Tape EP from the box set:
A guess at the titles would be:
Need Not To Forget (But To Forgive) (Rob)
Bandung Hum (Rob)
Running In the Red Light (Peter)
DFF (Ext.) (Instrumental longer version 6:52 min. of the intro track from the album)
According To Robert Been these songs were cut at the 11th hour from Wrong Creatures - they are are all up tempo rockers in the vein of Six Barrel Shotgun, Teenage Disease, Rival, even though they all have more detail in the arrangements .- guitar parts suddenley coming in, surprising breaks, shifts of tempo and rhythm - the 3 first tracks with vocals has A LOT of energy - restless but really super detailed arrangements. No doubt they would have given Wrong Creatures a kick in the ass and given it more edge and danger - but I guess the band wanted to try something more heavy, melodic and back-beat drone-ish... I really hope they release the Black Tape EP soon on vinyl and CD - and maybe put on some of the tracks that have been floating around the last couple of years like "Take a Pause By The Moon" (download new years eve from band site), "Ordinary Boy (from band site a couple of years ago)" "Scare the Square" (Instrumental) (Donor gift from Leahs operation fund), "Blown Away" (according to the band they have recorded this song for every album and Rob joked they could release an album of 11 versions of it)... oh yeah and their is still "Seasons" dating back from the before the debut - Peter did play it acoustic live 2017.... referencing Wrong Creatures (2×LP, Album) COOP010LP
Unfortunately it is not for audiophile. The sound is very moody. I have to turn the treble up while listening. And to be honest the streaming services offer better quality than this LP. Too bad because I expected a space experience after listening Spotify, but I met disappointment. It's more like gadget.
