The Nookie Remix evokes fond memories of a bygone era. Having secured my spot on a local radio station in the 90's, I was determined to make an impression and not just play upfront or fashionable stuff. In any case, the DJ before me always seemed to get hold of stuff where I would find it difficult to compete. I knew from my own experience, even at a relatively young age, that what worked on a dance floor might not necessarily work for home listening and vice-versa. With a treasure trove of records amassed over the years I was able to dig deep and start off my show with this wonderful Nookie remix followed by another, NCA - We Can Make It Happen (Cloud 9 Remix). I did not realise at the time, in fact it was only when I turned up at the record shop the next day, that I was told the phones had been ringing off the hook and I was being applauded for playing a different selection. It was not long before my graveyard slot was brought forward, however I continued with the philosophy that the radio warranted a different plan of attack and I credit this tune with cementing my place on that station.

If you're seeking this 12" just for the Nookie remix you're probably better off just tracking down the Promised Land 3 LP. The pressing on this 12" isn't any better than the LP version and the other two versions are only listenable at best. If the Nookie cut had gotten a full side on this or if there had been an acapella then it would be a must buy for any lover of deep drum and bass. But that isn't the case. With the Promised Land 3 LP you'll end up with many more fantastic exclusives from a bygone era of beautiful mystic drum and bass to go along with this amazing Nookie remix.
