Material – One Down

Timeless album. I've been listening to it since a few years after it was released and I never became tired of it; I even found that the few pieces which I may have brushed aside are actually remarkable. The Beinhorn, Laswell, Bisi foundation works wonders with all the amazing musicians and featured 'guests.' I wonder if that could be a good way to introduce Whitney Houston fans to some music they may consider edgy… If you are more into that "electro fusion jazz", the no-wave blend of funk from which Material made its early 80's trademark sound, than the "Temporary Music" E.P.s are staple releases as well.

Solid effort from Laswell & Beinhorn....guests here include Nile Rodgers & Tony Thompson of CHIC.

"Memories" features a (then) unknown vocalist who became a household name.

if you come interested by this disco music, please avoid this specific edition. The sound is an awful blur with the bass crushing everything else. Maybe once i'll test another one ...
