I think the biggest difference between this new album and their previous ones is that I didn't need a second listen to be able to distinguish between each of the songs on them. I've listened to this album through about 4 times now and still can't tell 3/5ths of the songs apart. The song structures, arrangements, mixing, riffs, tempo, and vocals all just sound like the same idea for one song stretched to several. The album isn't particularily bad, but it isn't challenging or very memorable to me. - There is also a black vinyl ‘ versions ep’ that was being sold at the recent Loop Gigs -

Comes in purple inner sleeve as colour vinyl version - Edited one year ago"Sonancy" has a different sound from Loop's earlier work, particularly A Gilded Eternity. The guitars here are drier, almost every chord is a major, and the riffs are simpler. The rhythm section is strong, however. The lyrics are simple statements mostly, like "which way to go" and "you're out of time." Granted, I never listened to Loop for the lyrics. But songs like "Breathe Into Me" were more evocative and unique.
Maybe it was a compromise between A Gilded Eternity and their earlier work, or maybe Robert just wanted to make a record that didn't necessarily draw too much from their past work. I had hoped for a successor to AGE, since that is by far my favorite Loop record, and "Sonancy" is not that.
However, it sounds great cranked, and it's got some of that Loop magic. "Fermion" in particular sounds like a monster when cranked in the car. If you liked their earlier work, you'll like this too. A good and very listenable but not great record. I still recommend it. - Yes, some pops here and there, but this is Fantastic record: Vivid, rocky, never boring and essential.
Really can't think I could have asked for a better return. Absolutely recommended referencing Sonancy (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Transparent Red & Black Smoke Galaxy Effect) REACTOR06LP
Welp, got my replacement… and it’s scratched, too! Ugh, If you’re only printing 300, get it right(!), use anti-static inner sleeves to eliminate scratches during shipping.- it's a good album, but i was expecting rather more abstract mixes on the second disc, something along the lines of Hampson's Main work. these seem like just very slightly dubby versions very little different from the originals.
- The dead space is super quiet and the music itself is very heavy and dynamic. Really an excellent pressing. Also the color of the disc is a deep smoky purple that perfectly matches the vibe of the record.
