I don't understand. This is a quote from Pet Shop Boys' Annually, 2017 as they discuss design of the Inner Sanctum 12" vinyl release:

"The inner bag is sensational." Neil agrees. "It's gorgeous," says Chris. Neil then goes on to say, "You're allowed into the inner sanctum, and then you pull out the record and it's on coloured vinyl."

But it's not is it Neil - what happened? Yes, it should have been deep pink vinyl with a yellow printed paper label. All fluorescents popping.

The design was to have increasing affect as you approach the record. Hence the outer sleeve is minimal, as from afar, a "very little circle because that is the inner sanctum on this huge white sleeve". Then the joy is pulling out the inner sleeve, huge colour. And crescendo: coloured vinyl.

    . . . or not.

Surrey, another white vinyl would have been sensible I think.

These "demo" mixes are beautiful and really cast the song in a different, somewhat more sombre, light. They could have labelled them a remix and a dub and they wouldn't have sounded out of place - long gone, for better or worse, are the days of demos being grainy outlines committed hastily and imprecisely to degrading tape.
