referencing Starbright (LP, Promo) BS 2921
If you prefer a more electric Pat Martino, with a side of funk/fusion, look no further. This one starts out with some ethereal introspective pieces, but then blossoms into Hancock-level jazz funk.
Chopsmeister Martino comes ready to play, accompanied by electric violin, synth, and Will Lee on bass. Martino has the guitar synth on hand for a couple of pieces as well.
Sonically, I think this album suffers a little. Not sure if it's the mixing, mastering, or even pressing, but it is lifeless and flat.
The playing is very lively, regardless.
