- Edited one year agoUpon opening my sealed copy, found that the paper inner cover was creased/wrinkled, like it was forcefully inserted into the cover.
But the record itself is absolutely spotless, flat, good dynamics, quiet. Great live session!
If you like this one, then also have a listen to : https://www.discogs.com/master/2020720-Larry-Coryell-Philip-Catherine-Jazz-At-Berlin-Philharmonic-XI-The-Last-Call - I concur with everyone else regarding this being a very nice RSD gem. I'm a fan of Coryell but had not heard this before, bought it without thinking twice. But I do have a question for y'all: most of this really sounds like a studio recording to me, with audience noise mixed in between tracks or at the tail end of them. Which of course was a pretty common practice in the 1970s and 60s, moreso in the world of rock than jazz (although c.f. the David Axelrod-produced Capitol "live" jazz albums, which were "live in the studio" albeit with a small audience seated on risers a lot of the time..). Anybody have any specific info about this album's recording? I'm picturing the band going into a Montreux studio before or after this show and just playing their set.
- sounds great, looks great. Also at a solid price! it was the only thing I picked up this RSD and it was well worth it.
