- Honestly it's sweet! It sounds great, booklet with lyrics is awesome. I highly recommend this press.
- Yeah, I also was expecting the 2015 pressing but received this one instead.
Honestly, it sounds great, and that's all I want. - Ordered the 2015 release and got this one in stead. Gave me a full refund, and i can keep the record. Spinner a few times now, and i must say i’m really pleased with how it sounds !
- Whether digitally remastered or no, the presentation of the music is excellent on this LP. Never heard anything quite like this before, but became interested following seeing the film. Repays repeated listening. Nicely designed sleeve and informative accompanying booklet.
- As some reviews have mentioned, buyer beware: this 2019 release has the exact same barcode and catalog number as the 2015 release.
If you are specifically looking for an analogue cut you want the 2015 press. The 2019 was indeed cut from a Bernie Grundman source and sounds great but was not analogue in nature.
*Quote from this reviewer who reached out to World Circuit for explanation: "They confirmed via email that the masters were recently re-cut by original mastering engineer Bernie Grundman from high resolution digital versions of the original tapes, with digitization overseen by the album's original mixer and recording engineer."
Just a heads up, I see some reviews from dissatisfied buyers thinking they purchased the 2015 and received the 2019. Easiest way to tell if it has not been opened or shrink is still intact is the hype sticker. The 2015 specifically states on the sticker "...from the original analogue master tapes" whereas the 2019 does not. Also, the 2019 on the back cover to the left of the barcode will have a text block in white text noting Made In Germany. Further, if opened and sellers can see the labels, the 2015 states Made in EU on the labels and 2019 reads Made in Germany. There's also a run-out etching difference between the two (see discogs note section and compare both).
Happy turntabling to all and to all a good night! - Edited 2 years agoThe runouts differ a little bit from the 2015 version and the sticker no longer mentions the "mastered from tape" under Grundmans name.
So I wonder if this recut is actually from tape or not. The VMP 2020 recut as well as 2021 reissue are not fully analog but this one is yet to be confirmed either way. It does sound great still. - Bought advertised as the 2015. I do not have a "high end" set-up by any means, but the record sounds absolutely incredible. One of the best sounding I own.
- Edited 2 years agoI ordered the 2015 and received this, as it has the same bar code one cannot blame the vendor since it was a sealed copy. However it is made in Germany and not "made in the eu". I wonder if anyone can confirm that this is still an all analog chain. It does not have any extra tracks.
- Edited 2 years agoAidan99 just received and sound tested both versions side by side. Both versions you are asking about. 2015 reissue and also new expanded 25th anniv. 2021 version where album’s ”squeezed” onto 3 sides only while bonus tracks are given at side 4.
Both versions has very similar mastering (B. Grundman) and therefore sound differences aren’t too prominent.
Nevertheless, this 2015 reissue sounds slightly more open, dynamic, lively, naturally to my ears. Simply wider pressing is slightly better than ”squeezed” 3+1 sided 2021 anniversary version.
So if you don’t need bonus tracks and best possible sound is priority, this issue is probably better option.
I’ll also keep this one.
