- The vinyl is beautiful and the gatefold is great quality. Awesome pic of the band. Sound greats, no surface noise.
- My copy has some weird buzzing noises in the quiet middle section of War Pigs and at the start of Iron Man. Thorough cleaning has made no difference. Seems to be an issue with the pressing or just my actual copy. Annoying AF as otherwise would have been pretty good. Anybody else had this?
- Beautiful colourway.
Pressing sounds good except for some surface noise, particularly noticeable on planet caravan. - Edited 23 days agoSolid pressing, nothing wrong with this soundwise, while also nothing special. The vinyl looks great though and has surprisingly little surface noise for a colorway like this done by GZ (I've had my fair share of shitty colored pressings by them...).
I'm still underwhelmed if I compare it with the attention to detail of their previous RSD releases: Master of Reality from 2021 sounded really great and replicated the original packaging with poster, Vertigo labels and even a polylined Vertigo inner sleeve. Last year's Never Say Die had an extensive booklet and replicated the original Vertigo spaceship labels. This new release has nothing of that sort and the generic inner sleeve isn't even polylined, so this is way overpriced in my opinion. Is shrinkflation a thing in vinyl? - Lacquer cut by Greg Moore, as the 2024 (23?) standard pressing. Pressed at GZ Media (Czech Republic) for this RSD release, at Takt Direct (Poland) for the standard release. Runouts differ but the engineer is the same. Will compare sound quality (which I expect to be sensibly similar) and update this comment.
Regarding the vinyl pressing itself, it's just like what you would expect from GZ Media.
Record is shipped with a standard paper sleeve, so give your record a good cleaning before playing.
