My vinyl foray into Pere Ubu....fantastic. Great pressing as well.

Bought in 2001 at Other Music NYC. It was very quiet, no pops, etc. and really captured the plaintive Ken Hamman production. It's a bit less quiet all these years later.

Just a brilliant and original post punk masterpiece that you need in your collection along with their next 4 to 5 lps. While this is the best place to start I would recommend going in chronological order for the best representation of what is best!

1977-82. i discovered them may 78: for my taste the sex pistols were going
behind the stooges & jonathan richman, but "modern dance" was a radical &
refreshing update of captain beefheart-influences, with singer david thomas
as the great leader, who brought the famous alfred jarry-figure back to
flesh. unsurprisingly, rec rec zürich organised soon later regularely
concerts with either pere ubu, david thomas or labelmates red krayola...

A great example of what I love in post punk. It's brutal and quite unhinged. I really like that about it. Stuff like over my head and sentimental journey really showcase the brutality of the record. Really superb album

I agree with Jon. Fantastic pressing. Beautiful bass and very dynamic. Unlike the 2017 Dub Housing which seems to have lost the warm bass in favour of high treble

As far as I'm concerned, this is the definitive pressing. Dave said there were a ton of problems with the original sessions that they fixed for this release. It sounds great! Clear, dynamic, quiet. What specifically they went back in to fix I am not so sure of. It sounds faithful to my ears. It's not like they Iggy-d it up. Get this one!

This is one of the best remasters of this cult classic, I strongly recommend it. Music On Vinyl has few disappointing remasters but this one is fine

I don't read a thing here about the different mix on the Blank label compared to the Rough Trade issue.I own both of them,I read about this difference some time.The Blank mix seems to have less stereo left right effects.Whatever either way,one of my favourite records ever !
