Reviews
- Edited 2 years agoReviewing a super clean '75 ATCO US pressing. It's easy to love anything Peter Gabriel has done at any point in his career. This one has elements of synth rock, blues, disco, barbershop(lol), tin pan alley and of course prog rock, as you'd expect coming off his recent departure from Genesis. And helped out by the likes of Dick Wagner and Robert Fripp, what's not to like?
Soundwise, I'm not thrilled with the mix/mastering. Everything sounds respectable, but sometimes muddy, without a very wide soundstage nor super well defined instruments. It's a decent passable mix, but doesn't knock my socks off. "Excuse Me" and "Humdrum" actually sounds marvelous, with rich full tuba, rhodes and three-dimensional soundstage. This tells me the problem areas lie with individual song mixes. I will listen a few more times to be sure.
Regardless, it's a great pickup if you find it in the store. Recommended.
