Reviews
- The copy I just obtained has a photograph of Atom Heart Mother and Ummagumma albums placed on top of a record player. The photo is stuck on top of the top right image, and I can just see the edge of Dr Phang's sign underneath. Anyone else seen that, or is this just a personal customisation? Quite odd - I am wondering why somebody would do that!
- So, I appear to have TPATGOD from this release, except in a mid-70’s TPATGOD sleeve!
Not sure if this was any kind of stand alone release at any point, or if previous owner just swapped sleeves.
Anyone else with this same LP? - I have the original UK 'Phang' pressing; and it sounds fantastic. If you are looking for a cheap copy of a pre-digital stereo pressing of Pink Floyd's first two albums, then get this compilation.
- Can't find my version on Discogs.
It has the Monk sleeve with Cat# on back cover: 1C 172-50 203/04
Rights Society: GEMA
Label Code: LC 1305
German copy right text on labels with 'Made in Germany'
Strange thing are the Matrix / Runout codes. They don't fit to any version on Discogs.
Piper: Matrix / Runout (Runout A Side): YAX-3419//42985-1Y
Piper: Matrix / Runout (Runout B Side): YAX 3420-B//42986-1Y

Should I enter a new version on Discogs? - Does anybody have any more information about the W. R. Phang version. How many pressings? I have one here, UK EMI, mint condition.
- Somebody who's obviously never listened to piper at the gates edited the notes on several releases saying that the tracks from disc one were all from various compilations and that flaming was never released on an LP before.
I don't have the patience to look through all 100+ versions and check so if you see this mistake, please edit? - A neat collection... although as someone who was looking to obtain a pre-digital LP version of Piper (and Saucer) without paying heavy premiums, I wish I would have known before purchasing that the version of "Astronomy Domine" included here was not the original (and classic) Syd Barrett era version... don't understand why they wouldn't have just included that obviously superior version to maintain the integrity of the original release... Potential seekers be forewarned, although thankfully Lucifer Sam and those thereafter remain intact for all your Syd-era needs.
